Passport Acceptance Services

The Yolo County Law Library is an official U.S. Passport Acceptance Facility. We accept applications on behalf of the U.S. Department of State for Passport Books and Passport Cards.

Appointments are required. Please book an appointment online at www.veribook.com/lp/YoloCountyLawLibrary. We book appointments up to two weeks in advance; if you are unable to get an appointment the first time you try, check back periodically, as new appointments open daily and we also have cancellations. All appointments are held at the Law Library at 204 Fourth Street, Suite A, Woodland, CA 95695 (view Map). The phone number for our passport office is 530-666-8916. Appointment times may vary from the Library’s normal open hours.

Please come prepared for your appointment. The U.S. Department of State’s website provides details on passport requirements and process and lists the forms and documents needed for a successful application. Please read this information carefully and prepare in advance. Any required photocopies of documents may be made at the Law Library for no additional charge.

As a passport acceptance agency, we handle passport services where an applicant must appear in person. These include:

  • First-time passports
  • Replacement of lost, stolen or damaged passports
  • Renewal of passports issued before the applicant was 16 years of age
  • Renewal of expired passports issued more than 15 years ago

All other renewals should be done via mail, see the U.S. Department of State’s website on passport renewal. Note that to use the renewal process, you must submit your most recently issued passport with your application, even if it has expired.

Passport photo service available at the Law Library for $15.00 per applicant. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment if you plan on using this service.

Routine passport processing times are currently 6-8 weeks from the time that the State Department receives your application; expedited processing is currently at 2-3 weeks. If you urgently need a passport, please see the U.S. Department of State’s website for options.

Children Under 16

For applicants aged 0-15 years, generally BOTH parents and the applicant/child must be present and provide evidence of parental relationship, such as a birth certificate.  See the flyer published by the U.S. Department of State on documentation requirements and parental consent (Spanish version also available).

If a parent is unable to appear, a Form DS-5303, completed and notarized within the past six months, or other documentation is required. Front and back copies of the parent’s current ID (driver’s license or state-issued identification card) are also required. For information on requirements, see the U.S. Department of State’s website.

Children 16-17

Children ages 16-17 must apply for a passport in person. Parental awareness is required, which may be evidenced by payment for fees with a parent’s check. One parent may be required to be present and to present valid identification if the applicant/child does not have sufficient identification. See the U.S. Department of State’s website for details.

Fees

Two separate fees are required for each application.

A separate Check or Money Order for Passport Fees, payable to the U.S. Department of State, is required for each applicant at the time of the appointment. Debit/credit cards are not accepted. For current passport fees, visit the U.S. Department of State’s website.

An additional payment of $35 for execution fees is payable to the Yolo County Law Library. This payment may be made by credit card, or by separate check or money order. Payment to the library and payment to the government must be made separately.

If the Law Library’s service hours do not meet your needs, please visit the Passport Facility Search Page to find alternate locations.
